Variant letters when the interiors are shared
What A, B, and 1-of-1 actually mark on a Marvel NFT comic drop, and why the interiors rarely change with the cover.
Marvel NFT comic drops often ship several covers on one interior file. Cover A might be trade dress. Cover B might be the afrofuturist treatment. A 1-of-1 letter might change only the title plate. The pages between remain the same sequence.
Buyers still arrive convinced they have purchased unique story art. The metadata rarely shouts the sharing. Our dossiers put it in the first paragraph: “Interiors identical to cover A; variant is cover and title plate only.” That sentence has ended two arguments in the room and started a more useful one about whether the cover alone is worth the holder’s ask.
Letters are not a quality scale. A 1-of-1 with clumsy condensed lettering can be a worse object than a numbered cover B whose kente border holds. We refuse to rank letters as if they were print runs of a 1990s foil. They are labels on files.
If you are commissioning a search, tell us the letter and whether you care about interiors at all. If you only want the afrofuturist cover, say so. We will not spend retainer hours hunting a unique splash that does not exist.
